So…what do we think of the iphone? Yeah yeah, I’m like 400 years behind everyone technology-wise, but my phone contract expired in July, and I only just noticed (I should not be in charge of these things), and I’m trying to figure out whether to stay with my current plan and just get a new phone, or change providers and get me an iphone.
The pros of it are…well, it’s pretty isn’t it? Mmm hmm. And it has an ipod built in basically, and I don’t have an ipod any more. And there’s all sorts of other gadgets and internet and what-not. Cons would be mainly price I suppose. I don’t really use my phone that much. I pay about 20 quid a month at the moment and rarely go over my allowance. I’m one of those freaks who don’t really like to talk to people on the phone, I’d rather do it through texts or online. But if I had an iphone I would probably use it more, and have internet handy, and my music. I am also notorious for wanting shiny new things and then not using them nearly as much as I should. I still haven’t completed Super Mario Bros on my DS and I’ve had it over a year.
So maybe I don’t need an iphone. Maybe I can make do with something else. But right now I really, really want one.
Sigh. Maybe I should just get an itouch…
If you go for the iPhone, and you said you basically only talk to people via text/online, and with the iPhone you HAVE to get a data plan for the internet, why don’t you go for it, but get a very limited calling plan and a higher texting plan? You might save SOME money that way…
There are few plans here, so far only one provider has the iphone available. The cheapest is £34 a month (if you want to get the iphone free), which isn’t bad for what you get, but I don’t think there’s much leeway with your minutes vs texts. I still might get one…
I am seriously considering buying one next month because right now only one major cell phone company in Canada has it, but next month the other is getting it, so I’m hoping this means more competitive rates!
Yeah, I forgot we’re getting new providers too, so it may be worth waiting a bit. I will go Google when they’re coming out with it.
Hang on a bit, if you can. Wait until 02 are not the sole supplier. Vodafone and others are coming on stream with it. The price of the hardware and various plans will drop when there’s a bit more competition.
I was wondering about that actually, makes sense. I think I can stay on my current contract on a rolling basis. They not exactly knocking down my door to offer me better deals to stay…
I tend to dislike anything that’s overhyped intensely so the iPhone is something I will be the very LAST to get. Oh, and I hate most things Apple. I don’t even have an iPod, I went for a Walkman instead. I try to talk people OUT of getting iPhones, but my only argument is “I hate Apple” so its not a particularly convincing argument…
